Some Sinfully Good New Designs
Pride is one of our favourite sins here at Alchemy, and the new Saligia designs have given us plenty of opportunity to indulge it, not least because these stylish new treasures all owe their very soul to the essence of sin. The range can trace its genesis to a few years ago, when our chief designer Geoff Kayson was visiting Sweden. In the Gothenburg museum he chanced upon a late medieval glass vessel, exquisitely crafted in a seven-sided design.
Enchanted and intrigued, Geoff secured a replica, then set about replicating the design in pewter as soon as he got back to his workshop. Saligia's other inspiration was the Dutch artist Heironymous Bosch, specifically his lesser known 1485 painting 'The Seven Deadly Sins'. Bosch's hellish work is thick with symbolism, and Geoff decided to try and capture that same enigmatic quality in his Saligia range. We think the results are sinfully good, and have attached a depiction of a few of the pieces to see if you agree.
